For last two months I been hunting newegg for specific mobo for new desktop (major upgrade).
Last time I upgraded my pc (cpu/ram/mobo) was a bit over 5 year ago !!

Finally Newegg came thru for me and restock on this mobo -
AsRock Extreme4 P67
Running Core i5-2500K and 8Gb of DDR3 16000 (2000Mhz). Plus new big case HAF 922 and new $40 aftermarket cooler

My plan is to run this beast with stock frequencies for now and overclock once the warranty expires.
In addition it'll had
Dual 5770 video cards and 750W psu, OCZ SF-1200 SSD, several harddrives and carry-over SB Audigy2 ZS audio card.....

What this thread has to do with audioholics - probalbly not much  - but If anyone interested in building new PC with Sandy Bridge/Cougar Point you are welcome to ask me questions

*starts drooling* How is that processor? Reviews have been positive, I want to hear first hand though.

Sounds like a huge upgrade. Nice case, I luv all the space and tooless expansions slots. congrats!:D I've been researching the same thing for a while. Out of all the SSD's it seems intel has the fewest failure rates, may save you frustration later on.

Lets just say that Crysis 2 perfectly playable at 1680x1050 at Extreme Details....

The cpu is really a powerhouse and it was a huge upgrade for me in terms of how fast games run...

Another less know resource hungry game is Civ 5 - While gfx requirements aren't huge - it wants TONS of cpu to calculate AI steps especially on large maps and later on in the game - it's still not perfect but made it playable for me on much larger maps - I simply couldn't do before - the delays were 3-5 minutes a turn.

I'm still running all stock frequencies.... Like I said no need now to o/c just yet
