New PC, LCD over HDMI standby issues

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a new PC, nothing too special (Acer AX1301-U1302), and connected my LG LCD monitor/HDTV (M2262D-PM) to it via HDMI. Well, how do I get the PC to send the monitor into Standby mode?

Currently, power settings are set to turn off hard drive/monitor/etc. after so many minutes, but when it happens, the monitor only shows "No Signal" bouncing around the screen. From what I can find, it seems that the PC is treating the monitor as though it's only an HDTV since it's connected over HDMI. Is there any way other than using the DVI connection to have the monitor automatically shut off when the computer goes to sleep?

Thanks

I know VGA also puts the display to sleep when there is no signal. The sleep via HDMI would probably be a setting on the monitor and not on the computer itself.

I'd think the same

Unfortunately, the monitor only has an "auto off" feature which turns the monitor off after 10 minutes without use, but you have to manually turn it on. It's like the same concept if you think about your HDTV hooked up to your receiver via HDMI: if you turn one source off, the TV itself doesn't turn off, but you can switch between sources from the receiver. It just doesn't seem like the PC has any control over HDMI to put devices into a standby mode....
