I was asking about any possible small box desgins because at the end of the article it says they will be scaling the PC+ line down to just the PC12+ and will be expanding theri small box line....Could this mean an Ultra version??? Or just an update of SB12+ with the new driver....
PB10 ULTRA!! Or SB12 Ultra that goes below 20hz.

I still have 20 days to exchange my SVS for another. If there's an ultra in the works under $1000, I might just wait.

I don't think that's going to happen...don't wait. The new Plus won't be with us until mid-Nov and who knows when the next design comes out the shoot.

Well after spending $1000...I now have the itch to send my 16-46+ back and put it towards a preorder on the new PB12+...I spoke with them today and I was told that the entire overhaul is a fairly substantial upgrade over the previous generation....what to do....what to do....;)

Send me the 16-46+ and purchase the new PB12+. It's win-win, kind of!

I'll even cover shipping! :p

Bluesmoke, unless you plan on getting the new Plus, the other subs "in the works" are not slated for this year.

the 12.4 driver will for now, go to the PC12+ and Box Plus - not the SB12 ("which will continue on with the 12.3" as per Ed M over at AVS)

Chopin Guy, LOL - i feel for you. even i wouldn't know what to do in your situation.

EJ1, how kind of you to cover the shipping...lol...

Well you know Mike, it would have mattered so much until I was told that the enclosure and driver redesign does indeed provide a substantial step up from the previous generation. I mean all it costs me is shipping....so I am thinking waiting a bit longer might be worth it as I will have this sub for a long time...

AGHH!!!!

If you have the patience to wait for the new model to come out... I would go for it...

I would imagine the new driver will trounce upon the 12.3 driver in SQ, and options with the new driver in a totally redone box or cylinder would be spectacular.

Very hard decision to make in deed.

Hmmmm

The new Plus Cab is only slightly smaller then the Ultra 13 cab...

Plus
25" deep, 19" wide, and 21" tall

Ultra
27” deep, 20.5 " wide and 22" tall

That will provide some good ability to go low..... great job SVS, you guys really have what it takes to keep the market alive with top quality subs.

I am also curious if the new Plus driver will be available to upgrade current 12.3 drivers... I have Twin PB12-Plus/2's here 2 drivers powered by a 900w amp each.... I wonder if they modeled that out...
BTW, Ed Mullen had reported back and stated that the new driver will not work as a backward compatible replacement like they did with the 12.2 to 12.3 upgrade...

I quote Ed..
The 12.4 has a larger basket and a different flange hole pattern - no backwards compatibility with the 12.3 woof.

This is exactly why I am thinking of exchanging as I asked this same question and heard back the same from Ed...it's too bad for any old owners or anyone just shortly outside of their 45-day policy...

Or...it's good for them, because they don't need to agonize over it. :D

You seem so happy with your sub. There's always going to be something new out there that comes along. I'm not saying to keep yours, but I wouldn't send it back just because something else is being released.

Very true Adam.... 2+ months is a long time to wait with no sub...

Chopin_Guy-

I was in a similar boat over the last few weeks. Really had my eye on the 20-39+, and heard from Ron at SVS about the upgraded version during the back and forth.

Bottom line is that when considering the new prices - you're getting within a few hundred of the PC Ultra territory. He basically said "If you have the budget and a spot for the Ultra, that’s your sub. Done."

When you are talking about spending between 1K to 1.5K on a sub, I didn't want to have in the back of my head that I could have done better for just a few hundred bucks more. I pulled the trigger on the PC Ultra today and know I will sleep well.

That's exactly what I did, too! I figured that I'd always second guess if I should have gone with the Ultra, and because I could afford it, I went with it. Trust me - you will indeed sleep well. :) It's an awesome sub.

That said, the 16-46 PC-Plus is a real contender, IMO...especially now that it has the PEQ on the amp. It sure looks like a real nice sub. So, if I hadn't had the funds to go with the Ultra, that would have been my choice.

Wait till around tax refund time next year and I may sell you my 20-39PC+ Although I don't think it would fit in your car, and I know for sure it won't fit into mine... speaking of which, I got my new car system install that I was telling you about finished up last night, check the steam vent for some pics later on when I get a chance to post some, it's under the Original Punch 45 thread. Still gotta hear how the 15 sounds on the new amp, but I think it's really gonna bump hard.

Well I am thinking now that I will just go and spring for the Ultra myself and I won't have to worry about a sub for a VERY long time....or at least thats what I'm telling myself...and chances are I will go for the box as those finishes are o'so pretty...:D

Well, until the next Ultras come out. :D

Just kidding. I'm extremely pleased with my Ultra. That said, I would probably also be extremely please with your 16-46 PC-Plus. I just knew that I'd always wonder if I should have gotten the Ultra, and because I could afford to get it, I did.

Sweet! You should do my car next. I don't even have anything coming out of the left speakers, haha.

You guys should feel lucky, there was no ultra13 out when I was looking for subs for my great room of 8000+ cu ft I could have easily done 3 ultra13s in my room. I need 4 subs for that room minimum. I could easily do 2 boxes and 2 cylinders in that open concept scenario's.

Ed M doesn't recommend going with both boxes and ultras - they dont have the same extension and SPL capabilities.

(time to sell your pluses and get either: new pluses or the ultras) :D
