Hello all, I am just getting into high end HT 5.1 system.

My system is all in transit and I can't wait until i get it all installed.

So, please tell me what you all think about this set-up.....

B&W's
L/R Mains = 804S
Center = HTM3
Surrounds = sin 7NT in-walls

Sub = Veredyne DD 10'
Pre Amp = Anthem AVM50 w/ 1080P video processing
Power Amp = Rotel 1095
Universal Remote = MX-3000
TV = Samsung 56' DLP 1080P (with a 9.5 Ft. viewing distance)
DVD Player = Pioneer Elite DV79

I can't wait to here how the 804S sound hooked up to the Anthem and Rotel.

In my dealer store they are hooke up to Music Fidelity 2.1 integrated pushing 150 WPC and it sounds fricken killer.

I am assuming that hooked up to a $5K pre-amp and a 200 WPC power amp it will sound even better than in the store?

I really love the looks of the 804S, a beautiful piece of furniture as well as sounding awesome. They sounded so open in the store, like if you close your eyes and you feel like you are in the middle of an open stage and not boxed in.

Looks to be a great system. Congratulations! Don't get too hung up on the amplification/pre-amp, it's a very small part of the over all sound quality. If it were me, I would buy a pre-amp $1500 range. IMO you are in overkill mode on the pre-pro. There are a lot to choose such as Emotive or Outlaw and many, many others. No offense I hope, you asked for comments.

No offense taken. Only half of the reason for the expensive pre-amp is the audio processing , the other is the video processing. The AVM50 up-scales and up-converts all sources to 1080P w/ a 1080P HDTV of course.

Sorry for not being more specific, I was responding to this question you asked.

The answer to this is that it depends almost entirely on the room acoustics at home versus the room acoustics at the store. The pre-pro plays a very small part (if any, and assumes a quality $1500 pre-pro as the alternative) of the sound quality equation compared to other factors.

I have a RX-V2500 with 804s and the 1095 with the Velodyne DD18. I must say that the sound is killer. I got my 1095 and the DD18 yesterday, and I balanced my system last night. I truly love it. The 804s really sounds nice. I wanted to get the HTM3 center channel; but, I don't have room for it. So, I had to settle for the HTM4, and I am not disappointed. I sure you will be happy with your set up once you get all the pieces and set everything up. Good luck.

Yeah I know what you mean by the HTM3 being too big. I have to go with a custom design from Salamander Designs with a floating adjustable shelf to get that 12.5" center to fit under the TV. It is by far the biggest center I have seen from all the systems I auditioned.

You must have a realy big room to go with a DD18, unless you really love bass My room size is about 15'X15' (with 3 walls closed and 1 open) and I hope the DD10 is enough. At $2K though, it has to be enough.

My listening room is 28x18x8 (LxWxH). I did have the DD12, and it filled the room ok; but the DD18 has taken it to another level. The bass sounds fuller and it's really a treat to sit and listen to. I love bass; but I love clean bass that integrates with the system and not take over the system.

It’s a catch 22 affair over the costs of AVP and AVR some AVR only cost around £450.00 or less here in the UK that’s like $500.00 for argument sakes. I’d really trend carefully.

I only use the pre-outputs on my Kenwood KRF-X9050D THX select AVR where I have managed to exploit and explore many possible uses over the substandard use of it and it only cost £450.00 not bad going.

I wish they would produce a AVP with all the trimmings including THX Dolby-EX dt-ES for under £500.00 if they can do that for AVR why not AVP?
