hello all, in new to the forum and hoping to get some advice. I don’t have a ton of money to spend on audio equipment so basically I buy everything from flea markets/garage sales. I have a total of 150 bucks into my entire setup . My question has to do with the best placement for the speakers I have. I’m always on the lookout to “upgrade” what I have, but my options are limited to finding good deals.

Here is my current setup. I don’t have a dedicated center speaker as of yet, just “pairs”. What speakers should I place where in a 7.1 setup?

Receiver
Denon avr-3805

Subwoofer
Cadence xlns-12

Speakers (pairs)
Bose interaudio 2000
B&W 600 series i
Sony ss-mb105
Pioneer s-cr400-k

Also, I only use my surround for watching movies, no music

I also have the chance to pick up a pair of jbl e-30 speakers for 60 bucks if that would be a good upgrade to what I currently have

Thanks, but I know where to place my speakers, I’m looking for recommendations for which of my frankeinstein speakers I should use for what channels.

Ah, I'd put the most capable speakers at L/R, next most capable at surround, next most capable at rear surround/front height. Not familiar with all your speakers, tho guessing among those brands the B&W might be the better L/R (what specific model, tho?). It's really about preference, tho. Nothing wrong with frankenstein speaker sets, tho. Experiment.

Cool. I’m thinking of going without the center speaker for now. It’s in a small room.

Or with all those speakers you might find one that works for that, too. I prefer a center myself.
