Stay away from Theater Research! They are a White Van brand of speakers. Very cheap speakers(its a scam, they are worth pennies on the dollar).

Its a good thing you came on here.

As for other brands, try

Axiom Audio
Energy
SVS
BIC
Paradigm
Ascends Acoustics
Athena ;)

... Did I miss any fellas?

Theater Research is a well-known "white van" speaker, meaning that they are sold by scam artists on eBay and out of white vans in parking lots. STAY AWAY!

That said, there are plenty of high quality speakers out there. What exactly are you looking to buy (or accomplish), and what is your budget?

I never new they are crap speakers. the problem is my home theater room is huge about 900 sq. feet with 25 ft. vaulted ceiling. an a loft. my two fronts are only 150 watts. my sub is a good size 17'' also have a 10'' as well. I heard I could hook a sub to the center chan. thats a kinama. i'll try an send a pic later to show the layout. id spend about a 1000 cdn.

How about JA Audio speakers? Are these STAY AWAY speakers as well? I posted an earlier thread asking this http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19429 but got no responses...

Thanks,

STAY away from those Theater Research speakers. Those are white van! I had a friend who bought those off eBay and the corners came cracked and broken. It could've happened either during shipping or the seller knew they were that way but didn't care anyway. My friend tried to return them but the seller would NOT respond nor answer his emails.

During an audition of both music and movies, I couldn't believe he spent money that much for them. They sounded so horrible. I'd never heard of the brand so I was skeptical already - perhaps he could've asked me for my advice before making such a large purchase.
