Hey all,

First off, I'm Jon and recently wanted to purchase a surround sound system for my room. I talked to my buddy who is really into audio equipment, and have now caught the bug for buying/selling on craiglist and continually updating my system as well as profiting. I'm pretty new to it though, so figured I'd join this site and try to learn what I can.

Today I picked up a pair of MTX AAL 223 Speakers from a garage sale for $50. I've tried to research them online, but can't seem to find any information on them. I do know that they are massive, have 2 12" woofers, run at 300W, and have wayyy too much power for my Pioneer SX-780 receiver. Any information any of you have on these would be much appreciated as I will most likely sell them back.

Thanks!
Jon

I started my audio addiction on craigslist as well. I have never heard the mtx speakers but if I recall, they are "party speakers" :eek:I am sure they are loud but do they sound clean and clear? I myself would sell them back but thats me.

Yea, I was considering that. I might hang onto them for a few parties if I can find a cheaper receiver or amp that would power them. Gotta be 4 ohm from what I can tell tho...ha

I am familiar with the MTX AAL series. They do require a bit of power and are most definitely a party speaker. They will get plenty loud, and are quite reliable but that is about it. They are not a fidelity speaker by any means.

I would not suggest using them in a home theater application. In a garage or party area maybe, but they are massive.

yea, i think they're worth like $200-300 at least. They are soo loud, and with a good amp/pre amp sound awesome
