Bought my wife a new avr and speakers for up starirs since I moved all my stuff into the basement.Got a pair of KEF IQ7s at ass4less for under $500 hooked them up in the basement to a old sansui av7500 sounded great was very impressed.:) But took them upstairs and hooked them up to her new yam HTR-6230 and was less than impressed:confused:.It dosn't matter to her she had been happy with a 30$ boombox but I hate the thought of those speakers sounding that way upstairs.I've heard everyone talking about the room itself how it can make or break the sound now I'm a believer:)

I also have the IQ7’s, and I have found that playing with positioning can change the sound significantly. Even a couple of inches in a given direction can make a difference. For instance, in my particular listening room, I found that moving them somewhat close together (about 2 meters) and 2/3 meter from the rear wall makes a big difference. Also, if you haven’t already, put them on stands to raise them to ear level.

Maybe it was because you were out of your cave.. :)

Sounds like a room issue. But if she's happy then don't worry about it too much.
