currently have svs ultra book shelves in living room, with ultra center love them. I won a contest at work and just ordered free B&W 707 V3 bookshelves. Havent gotten them in yet. Would you say they are better than the Ultras? Other option is to replace my Boston VR3s that are in the basement with the B&Ws. I’ll experiment with them when they come in.
Any recommendations on matching center channel for these?

Which one you might prefer is hard to know. Play around with them and see how they work out....no idea what center aside from a third 707 might be, tho. B&W just has never appealed to me....

$1200 SVS Ultra and $2,000 B&W 707s3 likely comparable in SQ.

B&W is more prestigious than SVS.

I would favor the one that looks the best. :D

Ha ha I’ll probably just end up selling the B&W if I find a buyer. I’ve been really happy w SVS.

B&W does have a lot better resale value than SVS.

No wrong answers here. Personally I would sell the SVS and get a matching B&W Center for the B&W - after you’ve listened to the B&W first. :D

What? You don’t think my speakers are pretty enough for you?

LOL no, just that most speakers aren't very good looking to anyone but someone who likes the sound of the speaker.....they're just at an aesthetic disadvantage from the get-go :)

I’m sure beauty lies in the eye…

The salient thing is that the owners truly believe their speakers are pretty.

After owning many things over the years, I just can’t buy something unless I think they are truly beautiful to my eyes.

Of course, they have to also sound great and have a great in-room REW frequency response.

For sure, just depends how many people are involved in the decision as to what is beauty :) WAF isn't so great with this. I can appreciate some speakers' aesthetic over other speakers, but monkey coffins are only so interesting monoliths sticking up from odd placement in rooms as far as most are concened?

The only decision maker for HT in my house is me. I look at my HT every day.

As for “monkey coffins”, I think of rectangular boxes like most speakers. That’s why all my speakers are very curvy. I won’t buy rectangular box speakers.

But anyway, aesthetic is just as important to me as the measurements and SQ.

Just that each of us has different ideas about aesthetics....so your significant other has no vote IIRC, that you have that huge house with sufficient rooms she doesn't want to deal with? :)

I will try them out and demo them when they come in and then decide which ones I sell.

Have you gotten a pair?
No, I'm speakered out, lol. I'd love to hear their complete line though, looks to be an excellent value with performance to price. The BX8C cardioid had me drooling. It's also reassuring that the principal designs/d for KEF.

What you call my garage speakers look better and sound a lot better.
You must be joking.:D

I think your garage speakers look exactly like GARAGE speakers and sound like garage speakers. :D

My speakers look 1000 times better and sound 1000 times better than your garage speakers. :D

So I personally don’t ever want to see another post of your garage speakers again. :D

The point isn’t who has better speakers, like the way to try to tell everybody every day how your GARAGE speakers look and sound better than everyone else’s speakers. :D

The point is that everyone has different tastes, so we can’t expect everyone to want the same thing we want.

So look at what I said in RED BOLD LETTERS over and over and over again because you seem to never understand this point. :D

We all have different opinions about aesthetics and even about sound quality to a point (like how much bass we want). You might love the way your speakers look and sound. But just don’t expect everyone else to agree. :D

Absolutely true about how everyone has different tastes.

My wife has never said one word about any of my speakers. Either she loves the way my speakers and electronics look or she doesn’t even care. :D

I think as long as she sees the money in the bank, she’s all good. :D
