Hey I'm kind of a new "Audiophile" or "Audioholic", but I was thinking of purchasing one of the two: Monster Turbine Copper or Monster Turbine Gold. On Amazon the Gold with ControlTalk is the same price as the normal Coppers. I was wondering, since I have read that the Golds have better bass, and that is what I am looking for, that is the ControlTalk something that will effect my listening in a major way, or is it not that much of a difference. I would appreciate someone to help me out. :D

Thanks

You'll find that most of us here are fairly pragmatic in believing that cables and interconnects have less impact on the sound than moving the speakers a few inches either way. IOW, if you're expecting major, or any, sonic differences between these two cables, you may be in for a disappointment.

But, Monster is as good as any other cable, both higher and lower priced, and sometimes the panache that one gets from the name might make one feel better about their system.

The Turbines are in ear monitors, not cables :)

I've actually heard a lot of good things about the Golds. I have no idea what ControlTalk is though.

The first thing I think of when that brand is mentioned are cables snd responded with the generic qualifiers. I didn't see anything in the post to indicate otherwise.

Well, whatever OP is looking for Headphones or Cables :D he should stay away from overhyped, overpriced and underperforming products from Monster
That should sum it up nicely...

btw: What type of headphones you are looking for (in canal/over the ear) ?
and what's your budget ?

Monster is unloved around here for their advertising hype, high prices, and their overly aggressive legal practices (e.g., suing a mini-golf course because they had the word "Monster" in their name). You'll find few people with extensive experience with Monster products answering you, I bet. I avoid 'em myself.

If you're willing to spend that kind of dough on quality in-ear phones, awesome. And, I hate to say it, Monster in-ear phones apparently are pretty good (I've never used them, but reviews seem to be good). But in the $250ish range I would go for a more established headphone manufacturer like Shure or Etymotic which are very highly regarded for their in-ear phones.

I have real misgivings about Monster products as well but I have, from time to time, bought some of their products on a blow-out.

Yea, my price range is around $200-250 so any suggestions would be nice. As you can tell by the title and I don't know much. :p Thanks for all the feedback so far. Also, I'm looking for headphones with solid bass that can really touch the lows but are still in-ear.

Thanks.

Klipsch does a good job with in-ear monitors based on my Image S4 set (which are in the $70-80 range) - comfortable fit, bass is boosted a bit more than I would choose but it's done well. In the sub-$100 range, I haven't come across better. Klipsch also has models with built in mics, etc (like the "ControlTalk" Monsters).

If you're looking for a more balanced IEM, the Klipsch X5 is apparently fantastic. And at $130 from an authorized retailer, you can't beat it!
