I am in need of some assistance. I finished off a room for my new HT room which is is 10 x 25. I am doing projection (mitsubishi) with a power 92" screen. I have been looking at numerous receivers and speakers but I am CONFUSED!!! I have listened to a lot of speakers but don't know where to go. I don't see anybody talking about Focal speakers on here. I would like to put together a system (receiver, 7 speakers 1 sub) for $2,500. KEF, Focal, Paradigm, def tech, .......... Receivers... yahama, integra, onkyo.
Any Suggestions?????

Choose speakers first. All else will fall into place.

Listen to all you can and choose what you like that you can afford. Without that, you're relying on someone elses taste.

...kinda like women and blind dates except they don't have to like you back and they are easier to get rid of.

If I may add a bit to what Mark said.
I'd go 5 speakers & sub (5.1) instead of 7.1 when first starting out.
Just my 2 cents.

thanks for all of your input

I have been looking and looking and my head is getting bigger the more I look. I loved the sound of the focal towers ($1,600Pr) but I don't see ANYBODY talking about them. I already wired for 7.1 (2 towers, center, 2 surround and 2 rear in ceiling).

If you have your heart set on the focals, go for 'em. Just make sure you buy the matcing center channel for a uniform front sound stage. The brand Focal) has been around for a while and I'm quite sure they are of at least good quality. ...otherwise they wouldn't still be around.

As for nobody talking about them, that shouldn't matter. Not everyone has experience with every speaker. One doesn't need to march in step in ths hobby. Just buy what sounds good to you.
