New and unsure. Would this work well?

I've been researching and learning a lot. I'm thinking of the Integra RDC 7-1 pre/pro or the NuForce AVP 17. I'm pretty sure of two of NuForce ref9 V2se mono amps and would like some input on what would be best in front of them. Are the two I am looking at a good match for the best quality? Would something else be better for about the same or less? I also plan on one the new blu-ray 2.0 players. Which one I don't know yet. I've got the speakers narrowed down to three systems that I'll be posting on the speaker page. Anyway, as I said I'm new to this and just looking for some input to clarify my understanding of all this.

Not at all against the Yamaha. Had also considered it but would it hook up with the NuForce mono amps? I read some really good stuff about them and that is a component I would like to try. Could they work off the Yamaha? I figured if I went with them I would have to have a pre/pro unit for them.

... Have pre/pro outputs that could be used to drive separate power amps. My point was that with some of the higher end AVRs you might not even need separate set/s of power amps. The Yamaha has 140 watts per channel which is enough for almost all speakers unless you have very low impendance speakers, i.e. 2 ohms.

The PS3 is the best BluRay player available and one of the only ones that meets the 2.0 profile and offers decoding of DTS MA.
Get the accessory so you can use an IR remote to control it.

Integra makes some high end HT pre-pros. I am using an emotiva HT amp in my system with a Yamaha receiver as pre-pro. Just make sure you budget more for the speakers than for the electronics.

Thanks for the input. I've been checking it all out. I think that it will be the Integra DTC 9.8 pre/pro with 5 NuForce ref9v2se running the RBH Signature Reference series. Two T-2 for front r & l with three T1 for front center and rear r & l. I'll be feeding the Integra mostly from an HTPC I will build to store all my music and video in thus the Integra. It's supposed to work well with pcs. I saw some post where someone is running a Theta Dreadnaught II off the same pre/pro and loved it. He used it to replace a much more expensive unit so I figure it should work well for me also.

Nice gear list. Make sure you audition several speaker options in your price range.

Also, you might consider trying the $800 Emotiva XPA-5 to power you speakers before investing in the NuForce setup. Both would work great.

I will be auditioning several speakers. I have a thread going in the loudspeaker section also. Hopefully, next week I can take a day or two and go audition speakers and components. Saw some really great reviews on the NuForce monos so I really want to hear them. Someone on the speaker thread had me checking out something and I came across the Red Dragon mono that really had great reviews also so I'm hoping I can find it somewhere where so I could get to check it out.
