Receiver options

Addy,
A $300 receiver like the Yamaha RX-V659 will easily exceed the power handling and performance capabilities of the Bose speakers. Spend the extra $1k on a new TV or speaker upgrade.

i do want it as an electronic investment if you can say that... i want it too be prime for at least 3-4-5 years and yet still be good for another 5... this is then last thing i want to buy... but ill double check the yamaha the only thing i dislike about it is that it doesn't have audyssey which is Superior then the yamahas room eq...about 7 months ago i almost bought the rx-v2600 but then decided to wait for 1.3a to further future Prof it

You might also want to look at the Yamaha HTR 5990. Does all you ask for, excellent quality new in box for about $600 incl shipping on fleabay. ($1100 retail). Slightly used for less. If you're not an ebayer you can get it from an online store for $ 620 plus shipping I just bought the 5960 which is one step down but otherwise the same with component instead of hdmi. (I dont need hdmi).

Electronics investment?

Electronics including receivers are not a good "invenstment". Two years from now, there will always be something newer, better, faster, etc. For example, in a cople years, HD-DVD, BluRay, or both might be out of production.

If you want to "invest" in your HT system spend your money on good speakers or an amp that will give you years of audio enjoyment.
