It's been years since I purchased new stereo equipment. I recently finished our basement for a home entertainment room and have purchased the Axiom Epic 80 system which includes these components, M80ti Tower Speakers
Surrounds QS8
Centers VP150
Subwoofer EP350.
Now shopping for a a/v receiver/amp, any suggestions, I have been considering the Denon AVR-2803 or the JVC RX-DP9VBK, would like opinions from people with more knowledge than myself. Thanks in advance for your help.

Looks like you are looking for a receiver instead of an amp. How much are you wanting to spend?

$600-$800 both these retail for around $1100 but less on internet sales sites

I have been considering both the Denons, is there enough power there?

That depends on your listening preferences. I would spring for the Yamaha 2400 or 2500. I have the 1400. It's great. I added an amp. I felt the speakers needed more control at higher levels. I have a 5.1 with MB Quart 4ohm speakers. The amp is a Adcom 7605. You will not really know until you have it set-up. This is why I made sure to get a receiver with the features I was looking for at a great price. At the time, the 2400 cost a great deal more than the 1400. I am very glad I got the 1400 because I doubt you could tell much difference BTW it & the 2400 in sound. The sound is pretty much the same with the amp I added until you crank it up. Then you feel the vocals in your chest with superb clarity.

You'll want to be careful. Those big Axiom 80's are a 4 ohm speaker, so make sure whatever amp/receiver you get is rated for the low ohm(age)...
