Hey everybody,
I am dying to get some bass in my music and since I am not made of money I can't have standard speakers that will do it all.

I have Monitor Audio RS-1 speakers in a really small (dorm) room. I would love a sub that will go as low as possible, and for music if that makes any difference. Price is important, please nothing below like 400 bucks.

Please help me out, Ive never had a sub so I have no idea where to look for these kind of things. Thanks!

Because I like to be a well informed customer and purchaser ;). Ive looked a little and I have about 3:

SVS PB10-NSD
Outlaw LFM-2
HSU STF-2

Thoughts on all of these? The SVS and the Outlaw seem to have the best extension.

velodyne dls3750-R (10"er) or dls4000R (12"er). while these cannot go lower than 30hz ... they have a hell of a >30hz punch

plus you get a remote control.

I have the Outlaw LFM-1 and I'm very happy with it. It's great for movies, but I felt like the music was a bit disappointing. Frankly though, the quality of the music hasn't been all that great and I haven't really setup my system properly (yet). The LFM-1 does have great extension though, and it's very tight and controlled at all times.

Hsu is offering 20% off of the STF-2 and STF-3 right now.

I was about to post about the sale at Hsu. This are great subs at great prices (I own a VTF-2). Bear in mind that all the subs you mention are BIG and you have a small dorm room. Another option might be an X sub for $200, and get a second one if you want more output. It won't go quite as low as the others, but small subs with big output are expensive. If I were in your shoes I would go with the STF-2 on sale if I could accommodate the size.
