Needing new speakers upgrade, choices!

Hey there guys, I am needing some nicer set of speakers.

Currently own an Onkyo receiver, Acoustech H100 subwoofer, Polk R30/R15's. Onkyo puts out a decent 65rms on 5 channels.

I moved into a smaller room and want to drop surrounds all together for now, so a 2.1 setup would be nice.

Here's a few choice I get to choose from:

Paradigm Performance series 100watt bookshelves ( not sure what exact models these are? ) $120 with stand ( assuming these are atoms? , still trying to contact seller.)

Paradigm atoms v5's $150

B&W DM 601 S2's $125

Klipsch RF-20 $200

Floorstanding or bookshelves doesn't matter.

Also, any other recommendations?

$90 bucks? Where do you live? I would contact Customer Service to work out a better shipping plan.

The Ascend 170's too would make an excellent choice.

I am in California, $90 is for 2 speakers going UPS, and over $300 for yellow frieght shipping.

Shipping should be around $50 bucks for 2 speakers. Try and work it out with AV123 if those speakers interest you.

The shipping quotes on the website are not accurate, give them a call. I had a large center (50 lbs) and a pair of bookshelf speakers shipped from them to my house. Each shipment was $30-40.

I have a choice of picking up a pair of Polk RTi8's for $200, or a pair of paradigm mini-monitors v.3 for $200.

$200 for RTi8's is IMO a better deal.

Yeah i just did a better search and the titans aren't as great as I thought.

And there are several versions.... sigh.

I'll contact the guy with the rti8's then, probably going to have to upgrade my receiver also for more power..... now where to start lol

What receiver do you have? Are you able to connect an external amp?

unfortunately not with the current receiver.

I am wanting to upgrade it soon though.

btw, RTi8 $225 or RTi10 $250? This is per pair also.

I read the RTi8 has better mids than the RTi10 because of the smaller mid-driver, but the RTi10 has more bass ( which I don't care about, but the price difference is neglect able )

Well the extra 6-1/2" Mid/Woofer in the RTi8 would help with the mid-bass.

If these speakers are for HT primarily then the RTi8's will do fine. If you like to listen to music then IMO the RTi10's would be a better choice.

I've use a couple pair of the B&W 601's. Very nice speakers. I sold both pair on E-bay for about $250 each. That's your best buy if you get a pair for $125.
