I have a Sherwood RD-7103R running into a pair of Tannoy Mercury M2, which I've always been very happy with. It's used for music and the TV.
Because of a change of furniture and nagging, this receive doesn't fit - let alone the matching 5 disk changer, so I'm looking for something to replace it with.
It needs to look nice, keep her happy, probably needs to be a narrow unit (TEAC 500 width), have at least one optical in, and less then 120mm in height.
I did buy a Teac 700 set, then found out what they call a power amp is a surround sound amp (rear and centre) which I don't need and the standard stereo seems to lack in the mid range and down - though I'm not looking for heavy bass, just good full range. Oh and the CD/DVD drive is quite noisy!
Seth=L has recommended the Teac 550 (over the 700), this is receiver only (not a problem as I can buy a Teac 500 range CD player) but it has a fan, concerned about the noise and after the 700 seeming to under perform, I'm left worried the 550 would be as bad.
I'm not in the market for new - can't afford, and I'm not looking to spend a fortune, but do want something reasonable.
Regards
Tom
