***Need your honest opinion on HT setup***

Ok, I have a Harman Kardon AVR 7300 for my amp and am currently stuck between two different sets of speakers. The first setup is:

Energy C-500 Towers
Energy C-C100 Center
Energy S10.3 800Watt Sub
Energy C-50 (2 pairs) Surrounds
*I hear this is a good combination with the HK 7300 because this reveiver is soft sounding and the Energy aluminum tweeters combined with the HK will sound good.

Second setup is:

Polk Audio RTi10 Towers
Polk Audio CSi3 Center
Polk Audio RTi4 Surround rears
Polk Audio FXi3 Surround sides
Velvodyne 10" Sub
*I hear that because these speaker's tweeters are not metal that when combined with the HK 7300 they will not produce nice crisp clear sounds compared to the energy.

Which HT setup do you think would be better for watching movies(80% of the time) and listening to music (20% of the time)??? I have a mid-sized room.

I've heard Energy Connoisseur with a 40w Jolida tube amp and it still did not tame their brighter nature. I am not a fan of Energy.

I'd go with this setup. Polks are actually a bit on the brighter side too, IMO, so whomever told you that about the tweeters was mistaken. The tweeter material does not determine the sound that is produced. My tweeters are soft domes and they have no problem at all producing very crisp sound.

The polk setup is in your signature block, are you not happy with them? Everyone I know that has them seems to love them. The only drawback is that they like a lot of power, but you have a really good receiver, and that shouldn't be a problem.

I noticed that too. Are you asking if the Energy setup will be an improvement? What some would call "crisp" others would call "bright". I consider Energy bright, but that is a personal opinion :)

I have Energy's and they sound crisp...or bright/harsh in the highs, just seems to depend on the source and material. I have run them with an older AVr120 HK, Denon and now with the Denon/NAD combo. They really shine right now with the extra power.
I have heard that almost exact Polk/HK setup at Future shop and I was impressd! Best I have ever heard at FS, but that's not saying much. As always only your ears can judge.

Polk fan here so I'm saying go with them... a CSi5 would help that setup alot though.
