I already have a pair of Bose 141, to add this package will make a 7.1 system for my Pioneer 7.1 Channel THX Receiver (VSX-1016TXVK), any comments would help.

thanks in advance

It's a difficult task to accomplish. I am in the same boat. I am actually going to pick up a Polk RM6750 5.1 package this evening for $249 at CC. I will let you know how it sounds.

But why the Bose 141's? I mean, I worked for Bose for over 5 years and I actually like Bose but the 141's are horrible speakers for a surround sound setup. Maybe use them until you can get a bit more money for two more speakers to match whichever 5.1 speakers you get?

Keep us updated on what you find.

The Athena Micra 5.1 speaker system sells for about $350 and gets great reviews for a budget system. Its actually part of the Audioholics $1000 Recommended Home Theater System. Probably worth the extra bit of dough.

Lunarfaze and Stephan, thanks, those are great helps.

You could sell the Bose, don't try to sell them here though.:D

Seth, is it really that bad? don't let me sad and depressed that much
but I really tried to think about selling it, but when I search the ebay, the price depressed me even more, just $29!!, I will rather take them as stools than selling them at that price.
I am frustrated!!

Many bose speakers have been compared to stool as well, although not the type one sits on.

On your budget I'd forget 7.1 shoot for 5.1 for now and go for quality over quantity. About once a month frys.com features normally $199ea (MSRP $649/pr) Polk R50 towers for $60ish plus shipping. Call it $200 for the pair delivered. Bass wise you'll get along just fine with these until you have the money for a good subwoofer. The ad usually comes out on Fridays but I would check everyday, and they sell out quick.

Add in an entry level Polk center for about $70 plus shipping, or the timber matched Polk CSR center for about $180, and use the bose as surounds until you have the money to do the surounds and subwoofer right.

No its not high-end but it is probably the most bang you are going to get for your limited bucks. I think that you will be a whole lot happier taking this path than the RM6750.
