need wiring and stands

Well I finally decided to stick to my budget and purchased some Athena AS-B1 bookshelve speakers. I now need some wiring for them as well as stands. Anyone have any reccomendations? Is this setup all right?

Got about $100 to spare

the easiest thing to do would be to run to Home Depot and pick up some of the 12 gage cable they use for Malibu lights (the path & garden lighting). It runs about $ 14 for a 50 foot bundle and will more than meet your speaker needs for the next several years.

www.jr.com and www.onecall.com have alot of good choices on stands, just make sure they get the speakers to the height you want and can take the load you intend. Another good place for better quality stands at decent prices is

The speakers are rated 125 watts. My receiver gives 100 watts per channel. Is this sufficent? When I bought those speakers I was sure they were rated 100 watts

Don't worry too much about the power. Unless you were planning on having you ears bleed from sheer volume, or unless you are using this setup in a huge room you will be more than fine. You won't be using anywhere near 100 watts 99% of the time as long as you are listening at acceptable levels. That doesn't mean you cant have it loud, just don't have it deafening.

One thing to make note of is that 12 gage cable probably won't fit in the clips at the back of your Onkyo right away. This doesn't mean it isnt the correct choice, just that you may have to snip a few strands off of the wire in order to get a tight fit. Don't let this worry you, you won't loose any signal. Home Depot speaker wire is probably less than $.40 a foot near you.

As for stands, as long as these guys are tall enough then I'd say the price is right. Speaker stands
