I have a customer that currently has a Bose In-Wall Music System (DEMC-2-B).

They have 8 Speakers on this system which 2 types of them are pictured. The other type is not pictured (I forgot).

4 Speakers in the courtyard, 2 in the Fun room and 2 in the master bedroom.
Then there is a sub woofer located in the wall in the courtyard.
Also in each of the areas there are volume control knobs on the wall that will need to be replaced.

The other picture of is the Amp that is located in the laundry room cabinet.

Basically I want to replace this system with a new one.

The dimensions of it are 16X19 and it doesn't have to be this exact same size because they will do drywall work is necessary.

The customer wants it to have multi-cd's, Radio (HD if avail), possible a few aux inputs for satellite radio as well.
If possible they want to be able to control some things from remote like if they were in the master bedroom and want to switch songs, etc. Not wired remote but some sort of handheld remote (not necessary but a big PLUS)

What I am looking for is a new system I can propose to them and replace all the speakers and the amp and the actual unit. Money is not an option.

There is a whole other upgrade they need with an old Nutone intercom system but I will do another post for that since we will be upgrading them in phases.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Distributed audio system

I think you could assemble the following components to upgrade the audio system:

In-ceiling speakers in each room.
Keypads or impedance matching volume controls in each room.
Distribution amp or powerful stereo amp.
Receiver with the source options you need (sat radio, tuner, cd changer, etc.)
RF remote to control the source components.

The nice thing about the keypad/distribution amp systems is that you can select a different source in each of the rooms. You need a run of cat5 and the speaker wire to each of the keypads.

Not a bad idea and that was sort of what I was thinking. The one thing I can't do is run and new cables since there is no way to get in the walls on the downstairs area without ripping the place apart. And they do not need distribution. So my latest idea is to put a new amp in and rip that huge bose thing out and have the owner build a custom cabinet in the same area where I can put a receiver. Then just change all the speakers and volume controls.
