Is it just me of does the 120Hz motion blur stuff just look extremely fake? Every time I walk into BB I see people drooling over the samsung 71 with it on and I just don't get it. Give me a pioneer or panasonic plasma any day for that price.

I can readily see a difference on the demo on the 71 series you are referencing. What I really question is the material. That is a blu ray disc demo, that I really don't trust. It will be really really easy to fake that demo the way they have it set up. For example, just make the right hand screen look worse on purpose.

I'm currently looking at a TV in the same range. I've been looking at the Samsung 42" Widescreen Plasma HDTV (HPT4254) vs the LCD. Does anyone have experience with the Samsung plasma?

Go to a BB that plays regular movies. My closest BB has a new movie in there every weekend and they all look the same, super fake and still motion blur galore. If anything it makes the motion blur more obvious on fast scenes.

go giants...I guess

Still hate the pats more then the Giants, so I guess if I had to pick one I'll go with blow up the stadium. We all know there are no true fans at the game, just rich people stealing all the seats. Super bowls suck except for 1972 and 1985. Two best teams ever.

Back to the TV's. Would I be happy getting a 60hz TV when I worry about motion blur? I just want a decent TV to watch blu-ray, dvd, and HDTV on. I don't need a Pioneer Elite becasue I'm not rich (that's why I'm not at the super bowl bi*ching out the pats-cheaters). I just want solid picture no blur, lots of warm fuzzy feelings watching HD.

If I find a killer deal on a 60hz Panny or Samsung would I be happy with the TV?

If he is so worried about motion blur why not just get a plasma? No motion blur to worry about with PQ better than LCD to boot.

Long Live The '72 Dolphins!!!!!!

as a Dolphins fan I want to thank the giants for keeping the 72 dolphins as the only perfect team. If you don't win the super bowl you are not perfect.

so can any one else list some TV models to check out that they love that fit my needs?

Check replies by me, in other threads.
I have/had both. Plasma has a much better picture, but even with current technologies MAY have burn in issues.
By chance I have 1 of the TVs you are looking at, the 4665 (46" 1080p Samsung LCD)
Also have a LG 42" bl5d 1080p, and in all honesty of the 2 TVs the LG BLOWS away the Samsung for a 3D look.

Granted, my Plasma had blown them both away, except for the burn in (which happened within 24 hours). (50" 720p samsung plasma)

For the fact you will be sitting 10 feet away from a 42" or maybe a 46", in all honesty, save your money on the 720p to 1080p debate.
If the price is right, then get the 1080p model, but the difference from that range will likely be UNNOTICABLE.

If you ask what sources i base my opinion on, they are as follows.
Toshiba HD-XA1 (1080i), Toshiba HD-A2 (1080i), PS3 (1080p), Samsung BD-P1200 (1080p) HVD-2085 (1080p)
As well direct TV HD (1080i & 720p).

Static image, by using the PS3 (or granted you did say PC hookup), you would be better with LCD.
But you may then suffer with VERY minimal motion blur, as well not as good contrast, by going LCD (but it would be safer).

My choice for the 10 foot range, and to save you a few bucks, going by the TVs I have (and had) would be the 42" LCD or just step up to the 50" plasma (usually for the same price or even cheaper).
The Panasonic 50" 75u, is currently 999.00 at Best Buy (well at least the one by me) and is known to cause the least issues with burn in.

I have the Samsung 50" 1080p plasma, and I am absolutely thrilled with it. The PQ is far superior to my other LCD TVs. Motion blur is not at all a concern, and the contrast ratio is fantastic. I couldn't be happier. This TV really showed me why plasma is so superior to LCD.

Have you connected a PC to it? I've read elsewhere that if you want to connect a PC, LCD is preffered over Plasma for picture quality.

I'm soooo tired of searching the ends of the web to find the TV that is right for me. So I'll let the wonderful world of forums narrow this down for me.
here is what I want
8ms response time and 120hz (no motion blur, which is standard now)
PC output
40-46"
1920x1080 full HD
LCD or plasma, prefer LCD.
Number of inputs outputs doesn't matter, my Sony ES receiver will cover all my output needs.
10000:1 to 25000:1 contrast ratio

$1000-$1500
I like Samsung and panasonic and Sony, open to other brands.
Two TV's I was interested in was the Samsung LN-T4661F and the Sony KDL-40W3000.

I'm totally open to any model or size in my price range. Please include model, thoughts and best place to buy. I just want the best I can afford. I really want to wait for the samsung 81 series this fall and save save save, but there are great deals now on TV's.

THANK YOU!
Go Giants and pats suck (I'm a Dolphins fan)
I'm in the same boat and looking for a similar LCD HDTV in the price range. What are people's opinion on the Vizio VO47LF at Costco? Looks pretty good next to the other models, ie Sony, Philips.

No, sorry. I haven't had the need to connect a PC to it yet. Although I don't see why LCD would be superior to Plasma for this. Judging by my own personal experience with HD and SD Cable and DVD material, I tend to believe Plasma is superior in every case. I was not in the Plasma camp until I bought one and now have a solid reference point to compare to my LCD panels. Other than the reflective screen, I haven't yet come across a situation where LCD outperforms the Plasma. In fact, after a couple of months of use I can honestly say the plasma outperforms the LCD in virtually every category, including price.
