Need speakers for a 5.1 bedroom setup

I will call Usher dealers and ask if they ship. But that would mean buying without auditioning. Locally, BB has some good deals next week. They have a 5.1 Mirage Nanosat system with an 8-inch sub and the Denon 1508 receiver for $999. That's $250 off the regular price. This has to be one of the best, if not the best, entry-level or bedroom systems I have seen. If I didn't have an awesome sub already, I would buy this system. What really caught my eyes, however, are the Insignias 6.5'' speakers they have on sale for $70 a pair. These are one of the cheapest and best-looking mass market speakers I have seen. I have read some positive reviews on them. I am seriously considering getting them. I can always give them away if they are not what they are cracked up to be. Anybody has any thought on these speakers?

Oh boy, that's gonna open up a can of worms I think ;). Some love them some hate them, both with passion. I have a pair of them and they sound fine to my novice ears. They were better steals when they were still $50 a pair. Two disadvantages of these speakers:
(i) Not magnetically shielded so can't be used next to CRTs. Obviously not an issue for LCD panels.
(ii) No matching centers from Insignia.

The Insignia speakers are essentially the equivalence of the rear speakers in the Radiient Elara 5 speaker set, which was reviewed by Audioholics some time ago:

Radiient apparently are not currently selling speakers anymore, at least not according to their website.

If I remember correctly, Warp bought some Insigs when they were on sale. I think he said he hooked them up, turned on his favorite music and then threw-up.

If you really buy those Insignias, after all the nice recommendations people have given you here, then this whole thread was a scam...

Sometimes the temptation of getting something for nothing (almost for nothing) is too hard to resist.

My local CC agrees to sell me a KEF 2005 5.1 system for $350. It's an open box system, but everything still looks and sounds good. I really like the look of these speakers because my bedroom has a contemporary, modern style and these little speakers would fit in really well. I figure I can get these now and use them as surround speakers in a 7.1 system should I upgrade the front speakers later. What do you think?

See my post reply #14, I mentioned KEF1000, which is almost the same as the KEF2005. For $350.00 you are getting a great price for a small satellite system that sounds very good. If you want something small that beat those famous cubes, the KEF's will do the trick very well.

I want to get this over with. It has come down to the KEF 2005 sytem and the Mordaunt-Short MS302 Premiere speakers. STO Sound and Vision has the MS speakers for $250. That's half the price at accessories4less. Is STO Sound and Vision a reliable store? I assume I have to pay shipping and handling. So they should cost roughly the same. Which system do you guys think sound better? Thanks.
