Need speakers for a 5.1 bedroom setup

I recently moved and left most of my gears behind. Now I am setting up a new 5.1 system for a small 12x10x8 ceiling bedroom. I have a silver ML Dynamo sub and need to have silver front and center speakers. SVS silver speakers would have been ideal but they don't sell those anymore. I am looking for something similar to those speakers in term of color, size and price.

Also, I have considered tiny speakers from Orb, Mirage and KEF for surround speakers. I want to place them in the corner against the walls to hide them as much as possible. Can these speakers be placed so close to the walls without SQ degradation?

For dvd and receiver, I am looking for something similar to this Meridian dvd/receiver combo without the same price tag. Any recommendation? Thanks.

The SVS bookshelf speakers should work well for your application. Their sealed design allows them to be placed close to the wall without effecting the performance. In-wall and on-wall speakers are also good options for a less obtrusive system.

There are not many high quality DVD/receiver combos.
For a smaller profile, consider one of the panasonic digital receiver and add an Oppo Digital or HD-DVD player.

Those slim Axiom speakers look nice but I don't want on wall type speakers (too much work hiding the cables). The receiver and dvd player are nice too but they don't come in silver. Thank you.

Check around, most of the Panasonic digital receivers do (or did) come in silver. From Oppo, the 970, if they still have any, also comes only in silver.

SVS for the speakers should do very well in a smaller room - contact them, they may be able to make up a batch or have some left aronud that just aren't listed on the site.

Few speakers do really well when placed near a wall and in the corners is about the worst possible spot.

Mordaunt Short offers the 300 series package in silver and they can be found here. (and they are on sale too!!). Ignore the picture, they come in cherry and silver. I've ordered a number of items from these guys, they are good. Sound and size wise, they are about equivalent to the SVSs.

I also give a vote for the SVS system. They sound great for that price, especially considering the sub that comes with the package, very nice for the price. :)

Those are fine speaker choices. The Mordaunt-Short speakers have received great reviews. The B&W M1 look nice. The Mission M70s are priced right. Because I listen to music a lot, I have decided to start with slightly bigger fronts and center first, but no bigger than 5.25'' for the driver though. Finding a nice compromise between aesthetic, value and quality sure is tough.

David, if black speakers with silver front are ok with you, you can consider the Athena Audition series speakers too.

NAD has some less expensive than Meridian All in one solutions, but they may still be a stretch.

Auditioned Mourdant's Genie, and I liked them. Wouldn't use them in my HT room or family room, but would definitely get them for a bedroom setup. Also liked KEF's KHT1000 for that application.

Besides 3dB, I am another PSB "fanboy". Have not audition PSB B15's (5-1/4"), but own T45 (2 x 5-1/4" Tower) and B25's (6-1/2"). T45 and B25 provide excellent sound and imaging with detailed mid's and high's.

Those speakers look nice. Unfortunately, the dealer closest to me is 250 miles away. I won't drive that far just to buy speakers.
 If I could afford to I would, what kind of audioholic are you?:D

Sad that 250 miles is standing in the way of one of the best sounding speakers you'll find under $1000. And one of the best looking speakers too. Given that these speakers list for $400 bucks a pair and sell around $300 a pair.:(
