need some input on my speaker crossover settings

ok i just got some polk R50s in the mail today...yay...i have a synergy 2 10" klipsch sub...and a pioneer 1015tx reciever...im trying to figure out the best way to set the crossover..now the reciever only lets me choose 50,80,100,150,200 hz.. heres the specs on the sub FREQUENCY RESPONSE:
29Hz-120Hz±3dB SENSITIVITY:
110dB SPL 1/8 space, 1 meter
LOW PASS CROSSOVER:
Continuously variable from 40-120Hz, 24dB/octave slope above 120Hz
and the R50s Overall Frequency Response 40Hz - 24kHz
Lower -3dB Limit 50Hz
Upper -3dB Limit 20kHz
Nominal Impedance 8 ohms
Recommended Amplifier Power 20 - 150 w/channel
Efficiency 90 dB
Those are the factory website specs... Now i know i should go by what sounds best ,but im just not good at tweaking this stuff..one thing that is going on right now i know i dont like is when im listening to mudvayne for example and there is a bass drum roll it slurs it instead of beating it..im guessing thats from the sub carring to much..please help me out thanks

The general rule is 1/2 to 1 octave above the F3 (-3 db) point of your speakers, so 80 Hz or 100 Hz would be appropriate for your xover. 80 Hz works well enough for just about any setup and is the THX recommended setting.

ok so i have it set at 80 Hz right now on the reciever...now what about the sub ..do i set its crossover to 80Hz or do i turn the Hz on it all the way to 150 and let the reciever tell it what to output...or does the reciever only tell the mains what to output?

If you connected the sub to the receiver via the receiver's subwoofer pre-out (the normal, preferred way) then turn the xover dial on the subwoofer all the way up.

On some subs, flipping a switch or using a specific input (often labeled 'LFE') will disable the sub's internal xover and it won't matter where you set the xover dial on the sub because it will be bypassed (ignored).

i was looking on the back ...it has a left and right input ..wich im running to off of the recievers sub pre out...but looking closer this subs left input is also the LFE so it looks like if i just ran it mono it would bypass the crossover ?...you think i should just set the subs xover all the way up
