Need some help!

Hey guys,

I need some help.. I'm looking to add two new front channel speakers for my setup. I currently have some old KLH's that I bought for about $200 a couple years ago that don't do. My price range is about $700 for the pair. I will not be using a sub for the time being so bass is a must and I tend to play my music at very high levels. I will be running them through my denon 1911. They will be going in a medium sized room with roughly 12 ft ceilings. Space really isn't an issue so bookshelf/floorstanding doesn't really matter. Any help is appreciated

I really like those and the low frequency definitely seems good enough.. How would those compare to the Klipsch RF-52's? (I recently tested those out at a local store and like them.) I have also heard great things about the Polk Moniter 70's and tsi400's?

They all sound different - it will come down to personal taste. The
Infinity will have better midrange, and the treble will be a little more
smooth. All 3 have their fans.

If you're going sans sub, the rather impressive low end on these inexpensive Bostons will serve you well, along with their high efficiency, which is going to be important since you've indicated that you want high output capabilities.

Boston's speakers consistently impress me because they're competing in the price range where Internet Direct companies typically rule, yet they hold their own even though they also sell in stores.

Anywho, worth a good look given your price range and desires for bass extension and high output. They're nice-looking speakers too, which is a plus

EMP Tek e55ti - 795/pr

It might go slightly over your budget but it's well worth it. Tons of output capability, a clean presentation, and I own it so I'm biased.

The EMP speakers came to mind for me as well. My only reasons for suggesting the Boston A360s and not the EMPs were:

1) The price - the E55Ti towers are slightly above the intended budget - although I'd fully agree that they are very much worth it!

2) The OP's existing preference for the Klipsch sound, which the EMP speakers do not really match. The Bostons that I mentioned have more treble extension - although it also comes with a little bit more "brittle" sound and a touch of harshness. That said, it's closer to the Klipsch sort of sound, whereas the EMP speakers - which I would actually prefer personally - are a little bit "warmer" and don't highlight the treble quite as much.

You really need to go out into the world and listen to a bunch of different speakers, of as many different brands, and of as many different types (e.g., ribbons, horns, domes, whatever) as you can stand, that are within your price range. This is because there is no such thing as a perfect speaker (especially within a price range like yours), and so it is a question of which virtues you require and which vices you can tolerate.
