hi there

I am using avr Onkyo 807 and thinking to upgrade it to 5007/5008. Honestly, at the moment I am more than happy with my Samsung LED C6530 32" to watch movies (bluray discs) from my BDP Pioneer LX08. However, the sound doesnt not really convince me when pair with B&W683 - front (bi-amp), HTM62 - cen, 686 - sur, and 610 - sub.

I have purchased the 5007 but the shop was out of stock then refunded me. I have read some threats and opinions from several forums then come here to ask you for advice.

Which is better if: I buy the 5007 or 5008 to pair with my system - both movies and music? or I buy Rotel 1080 - or something similar to this powamp -to play with B&W683 while keeping the Onkyo 807 for movies?

Appreciate any help :)!

Personally, I don't think a new receiver will offer the relief you're expecting. Neither is a great increase in power over what you have and the Rotel is only about 70 watts higher. That's less than a 1 decibel increase in loudness.

Did you ever consider it could be the speakers?

yeah, its might be. however at the moment I cannot support for the speakers, and intending to upgrade in the future to 800D or 802D with a pre-pow + cdp to pair with it, not now.

therefore I am asking, because I strongly want to go for 5007 or 5008 rather than the second choice. For this option, in the future I dont need to upgrade my avr for movies and now it can in some extent support for my music - thats what am thinking.

but many people suggest to go for the second choice because of saving money, better sound quality in music while the onkyo 807 still support for high quality of movies.

what do you think? any advice?
