Hello everyone,I just want to say what a great site this is, I need some help I am currently looking for a system that I can enjoy. I am being relocated to my new job in beruit lebanon and I am in the process of buying the whole entertainmet setup from the tv and on, the entertanment center will be going in a room that is made completely out of cement blocks with one door entrance leading in from th front and one door entrance leading to the balcony from the end. The room is a rectangle. Measuring at width is 11.4 ft and length is 25 feet with the doors at each end of the width. In this very room I will have sectional couches that seperate the living room from the dining room btw the height is about 10 ft. I am looking to spend arund 2500 for the speakers and recivers and also want to by a 55" lcd or led tv and a blu ray player. Can anyone please help me find what I need. I was told the electricty is 220v at 50 hz but I could by an apc surge protector to cover that issue its like $549 I belive and it will give me 60 hz while a transformer wil give me the 110v. The broadcasting system in leb is Pal. And the blue ray player must be a multi zone player. Thank you all for the help.

Theater or Stereo?

Kush, i guess I am assuming that you are wanting a 5.1 system, possibly 7.1 or are we looking at stereo sound? Assuming you are looking at a 5.1 sys, Yamaha makes some good receivers in the Aventage line that start around $500, and assuming your not going to run 2+ zones this could be a great option. That would leave you about 2G for speakers, which is very realistic. I'm personally a big Paradigm fan (not the views of everyone one here, nor am I speaking for the site) and they have some great sounding speakers in that range. Let me know your desired setup and i'll go on.

I wont go live in Beirut, Lebanon for no money in the world ...

That said - you'd probably be better off getting stuff locally, especially the TV and BD player
Receiver and speakers could be shipped and probably would dual voltage compatible, but typically good subwoofers weight a lot, so It's something to think over..

i thought of getting everything locally but its much more expensive for alot less and cheaper products, and anyways everything is going to be shipped via a container,

I'd get everything and ship it. Converting power might be some work, but it can normally be done well. The speakers and subs can all be bought here.

Just be aware of how much your APC can handle. They build their products extremely well so I'd trust it to do the job right.

For speakers I suggest the Infinity Primus 362(LR)/351(center), 2 Primus 143(surrounds) , for a sub get an SVS. I'd probably overspend for a very reputable well built receiver. While HK software isn't great the receivers are very reliable and worth a look.

If you bring American movies you will need an American blu-ray player. For broadcasting you will probably need a Lebanese TV.
