Need Some Advice

I'm looking to buy a pair of front speakers. I've auditioned Totem Sttaf and B&W 683. The Sttaf seem a little better to me but not that much.

I'm hoping you guys can help out in determining which is a better set.

Its kind of pointless to me to take another person's opinion that chooses the B&W over the Totems when the totems sound best to you. Trust your ears. If you don't reaudition, and take notes on each speaker and draw your conclusions from that. Good luck.

Let your ears decide.
Check out a few more dealers and audition other brands like Paradigm, Klipsch Reference, Energy, etc.
Bring some listening material that you are very famaliar with.

As some previous posters have said your ears and what you think is best should be the final judgement. Also when you are listening listen to music as well as DVDs/TV if that is how you use you HT.

I hadn't heard of Totem Sttaf before, but I looked them up and they appear to be very fine speakers. B &W are also very fine speakers.

I would be remiss if I didn't suggest you look at the Defnitive Technology Super Towers; they are in the price range you are looking at. You can typically get 15-30% off of their list prices. I own the 7002s and the CLR3000 center (which is a truly awesome center if you watch DVDs and TV; how many center speakers have you seen that weight 55 lbs and have two 6 1/2'' speakers, a 1" tweeter and their own 150 watt RMS powered 10" subwoofer).
