Need some advice for 100W integrated amp

Hi,

Newbie here and I need some advice for my next amp. This is for stereo listening on a pair of B&W CD 7 speakers.

I currently have an old HK AVR20 (works great, but not very powerful) which I've complemented with an HK PA 2000. The PA 2000 is pretty strong, but at this point I feel it only amplifies the AVR's faults along with the rest. I mean, the AVR 20 is a great little receiver, built very solid and with a warm open sound which I like very much, but you just can't crank it out very much - once you do, the highs become too tiring and the bass a little too muddy.

I've also tried a Yamaha HTR-5260 courtesy of a friend, but I found out I don't really like the Yamaha sound at all. Plus, it has so many gadgets and gizmos and modes, that it's not very user friendly for simple stereo listening.

At this point I'm ready to try to sell all these receivers and amps and get something around 100W, with clean, open, warm sound and a good soundstage. I was looking at the Outlaw Audio RR2150 because of the great reviews, but would like opinions from real life people who don't make money from ads. =)

So if you have some advice I'd love to see it. My preferred budget tier is $500 (used is fine) and would not step over $1000. Your suggestions are much appreciated.

One option worth considering is to go to Emotiva separates.
Currently, you can get the combination of the USP-1 and the UPA-2 for $600 plus $43 Shipping.
You may have a specific reason for wanting an integrated, but these are low cost, low profile, and well recommended.

Enjoy the hunt!:)

Edit: note that the USP-1 has no tone controls if that is important to you. It does offer bass management if you ever decide to add a sub.

That amp is pretty light (45W), but 90W will only get you +3db.
Given that amps shouldn't have any sound, and that tweeters use little power, have you considered the possability that wattage isn't your main problem?
