Need receiver help

Hey guys,
I've got my speakers and sub coming next week.I now need a receiver.I want to get what I need,but don't want to get something that I may not.Here's what I'm hooking up..
1 Xbox 360 (component video,coax audio)
2 Panasonic BD55 Blu-Ray
3 Dish HD-DVR (VIP722)
Hooked up to my lCd that has two2HDMI inputs.Would like to keep it in the $300-$600 range.

That's probably your best bet for under 600 IMO. As long as you have a strong open rack. I do suggest you get a low db fan for it as it can be a heater, but it's a very powerful feature rich receiver that can drive just about anything. If you want black its 50 more but hey silver looks cool especially for a 50 dollar discount

If 550 or 50lbs is too much for you step down to the 705.

As always go for the best features(HD audio decoding over HDMI is a must in your price range)/highest weight/good brand combo

Good brands in order of my preference

Onkyo
Yamaha
Marantz
Denon(bad manuals)

There are others, but those are the brands I would pick form. If you get any of those 4 you will almost always have a great receiver. Problems are rare with those but if you have them then they are supported with full warranty.
I doubt you will have any issues.

Thanks for the info.I looked at the Marantz sr5300(sounded good) and Denon 1909(setup concerns me) at the local audio store,have a friend who works there and he could get me 20% off either one of those.The Onkyo 606 looked appealing,until I heard all the stories of heat issues.

What speakers are you getting? That helps us figure out if certain receivers are a good fit (in terms of the impedance of the speakers).

From the components that you've listed, it seems like you don't need audio processing over HDMI. The blu-ray player has 7.1 analog audio outputs and the Xbox 360 has the coax digital audio output. The one that I haven't looked up is the Dish receiver, though. If you don't need audio processing over HDMI, and your speakers are 6 ohms or higher, then the Onkyo TX-SR506 for about $200 could be a nice pick.

For ones that do process audio over HDMI, I like:
Yamaha RX-V663
Pioneer VSX-1018
Onkyo TX-SR606

Adam,
I ordered C-300 towers,c-50 bookshelves and c-c50 center and got a
Bic Acoustech H100 sub. I know the receiver has hdmi out,if that matters.

Cool. Those speakers are all 8 ohms nominal, so you won't have any trouble with most all receivers being sold today.

Great. I really liked the looks and sound of the Denon AVR-1909.The Marantz Sr5300 was great also.Just trying to see if I really would benefit from getting one of them.The TX-SR506 looks like a bargain though.

Something nice about that Marantz compared to the 1909 and 506 is that it has pre-amp outputs, in case you wanted to add an external amplifier. You'd just have to think about if you'd want one anytime soon. At $200, the 506 is a nice unit if it has the features and power that you want right now.

Although i do not think ththe 606 has pre outs for an adding a amp if you want one in the future.

I suppose having hdmi connections might be nice as far as having less cables.

However, you don't NEED hdmi with your setup above. And you don't even need decoders onboard the receiver either.

The bd55 can internally unpack the codecs and send via mch analogs.

It also can internally unpack and send as mch pcm over hdmi.

Therefore, even a non-hdmi receiver with mch inputs will work. Or an older HDMI receiver that simply handles mch pcm w/o decoders will work.

Just wanted to let you know. It does sound like you just want SOMETHING now, but if you happened to be picky, wanted other certain capabilities, you might find some other bang for buck opportunity.

If Onkyo, and you just want really decoders and hdmi, I'd look at the 805 as well. It's what I use as an HT pre/pro, and I'm not even using it's large amp. Just the Audyssey XT is worth every penny, IMO, which the 606 does not have (let alone the aforementioned preouts).
