Need Power Amp or Not?

One needs a fatter wallet.

After having seen only two systems shut down because they were drawing too much power, my thought is that NOBODY needs those last 3db.
Agreed in general, but first of all, I started with "If " Secondly, I would also agree that nobody in a small to a medium room, seating distance <3 meters/10 ft, and not regularly listening to reference level/85 dB average 105 dB peak using speakers with sensitivity >90 dB needs 3 dB headroom on top of their 100 W AVR's (such as Grandsoltar's AVR-X3400H) rated output into 8 ohms.

Keep in mind once in a while we see posts from people who want/need to hear reference level in a large room sitting 4 meters from their screens, using tower speakers with sensitivity in the high 80's and impedance dip to <4 ohms in the 40 to 300 Hz range. So the point I am trying to make is that those people probably do need the help of external amps, but they should look to something much more powerful than the likes of the A23+.

I wasn't correcting you. :D

Your point was clear. ;)

Edit: Still, I bet that Denon would drive most people out of even reasonably large rooms.
