If " Secondly, I would also agree that nobody in a small to a medium room, seating distance <3 meters/10 ft, and not regularly listening to reference level/85 dB average 105 dB peak using speakers with sensitivity >90 dB needs 3 dB headroom on top of their 100 W AVR's (such as Grandsoltar's AVR-X3400H) rated output into 8 ohms.
Keep in mind once in a while we see posts from people who want/need to hear reference level in a large room sitting 4 meters from their screens, using tower speakers with sensitivity in the high 80's and impedance dip to <4 ohms in the 40 to 300 Hz range. So the point I am trying to make is that those people probably do need the help of external amps, but they should look to something much more powerful than the likes of the A23+.
