hi,

i have a US based friend wanting to setup a system here in the Philippines. as he doesn't mind 110v items, i told him to just buy from the US and then ship it here to the Philippines.

aside from the refurbs on dakmart, you guys know any other online Denon retailers?

he's gonna power Energy C-3 bookshelves (8 ohms)

thanks!

lol. i'll go tell him he has no taste then :D [or he's not my friend? whatever will make less damage]
(he'll only be using the system a few days a year, when he's in the country)

yamaha 665 vs. denon 1910? opinions?

also, does the 1610 decode HDMI audio? (i think it does)

I switched from a yamaha 663 to the denon 1910 and I would pick the denon hands down. The 665 lost about 8 lbs in the power section and assignable inputs....but hey, you get 2 more hdmi's(woo-hoo!!). Yes, the 1610 decodes hdmi audio.

Seems like deja vu all over again, this time instead of the Onkyo TX-SR706 (or 705), it's the Yammy 665. And from the Denon 2309, now it's the 1910.

Mike, you're a Denon man, and you should recommend your buddy a Denon receiver, period. After all, you know best. :)

For places that are Denon authorized dealers, there are tons of them, just like Josten already said. And I know that I did give a guy, in a thread in this Forum, more than a dozen places, all the best ones. But I ain't looking for them again. ;) Just too many posts to check over. Anyway with the three from Josten, you should be fine.

As for the HDMI do and can't do, just go over Denon web site, it's all there.

Finally, tell your buddy to get the Denon AVR-1910 period. :)

Cheers, Bob

And Mike, don't forget that with 6th Avenue Electronics, you got the Price Alert feature, where you or your friend get to name their own price, by clicking in that small yellow star in the bottom left of the picture, after you click on the model you're interested. Then another box will open, with the Target Price and your E-mail address you give.

Example: the Denon AVR-1910 price is $549.99 > then you put $399.99 in the target price box, and within 12 to 24 hours max, they'll get in touch with you to let you know if your offer was accepted, voila.

Try low at first, and slowly raise your offer till it get accepted. But wait at each time.
