Need new receiver for PS3 - Suggestions?

I'm sure this question has been battled around since the PS3 first came out and people actually cared about uncompressed PCM audio.

I still have an older receiver, but am looking to make a change. Essentially I'd like to be able to run HDMI (audio/video) to the receiver, and then HDMI to the TV.

Would be nice to run HDMI cable box through the receiver as well to the TV.

I know there are up and coming formats like HDMI 1.3 and making sure the receivers actually handle 1080p correctly, but I'm not really an expert.

Does anyone have an affordable suggestion (less than $500) for a good receiver to work with the PS3? I suppose I'll also need to upgrade my speakers, but I guess that's a whole new forum (unless someone has a simple suggestion for a 1 bedroom apartment living room setup).

Thanks in advance!

If you have no need for external amplification check out the Onkyo TX-SR605 it has 2 hdmi 1.3 inputs and 1 output. It also will decode all HD audio formats and do a variety of other things. Its biggest downside is no pre-outs for an amplifier but if you don't need one I strongly suggest this receiver. It can be found for under 400.

The 605's a good receiver.

You should also check out the Yamaha 661. That's what I use for PCM tracks. It can also be found online for under $400.
