My old Monster power center died on me. I need a new one. I won't be buying Monster products anytime soon. Wanted to know what people are using. Was looking at the Panamax units. What have you had good luck with?

I recommend contacting Monster first by phone because I had a HTS 5000 which died on me. I didn't even have to provide a receipt, I never mailed in a registration card, and I even think it was out of warranty - but they replaced it with a newer model, the HTS 5000 Mk II immediately after I mailed in the broken unit. I had no hassle. I have a HTS 400 which just broke in the past month. Maybe they'll replace it this time as well. If things have changed at Monster and they're not helpful, consider filing a BBB complaint.

(Yes. I am well aware of Monster's reputation. I'm not a customer anymore...but you might as well take advantage of the warranty).

jmy2469,

As we're all aware (some of us painfully so) Monster products are pricey. Some would complain about their claims and/or performance (that's for another thread).

APC has been suggested here. A good alternative. But again pricey.

Might I suggest Tripp Lite! I have owned the HT810ISOCTR for several years now and had no issues with it whatsoever. Thoroughly happy with the unit's performance and pricing.

They also make a more feature rich unit, the HT1210ISOCTR which digitally displays amperage and voltage.

A new unit to replace the HT1210 is now available, the HT7300PC.

Of course, you could always opt for a PS Audio or PurePower component. But then again, they can get very pricey. Especially when you get into the power regeneration models.

Good luck with whatever you decide to get.
