i know about most cables but i dont know much about the rgb/vga cable that the pc monitors use.

does it provide high defiition the same as hdmi or dvi. i dont think its digital, but is the quality still as good?

i know component cables are analogue but still high def capable. How does the quality compare with digital cables?

An analog VGA cable for a PC monitor is capable of "high definition." I used to run my CRT monitor at 1600x1200 using one of those cables. I can't speak knowledgeably about the differences in quality between an analog and digital PC video cable.

It most likely will look better. DVI (and HDMI) cable are pretty cheap, too. The only time they can be a problem is with long runs. Like over 25' (ish).

An RGB (D-sub 15 VGA) cable is basically five coax cables with one connector. The same signal is also sent using five individual coax cables with BNC connections in professional video. It consists of the three analog component RGB (red, green, blue) and two sync cable ( "H" or horizontal and "V" or vertical).

DVI cables have the ability to send both analog (DVI-A) and digital (DVI-D) signals using the same cable (DVI-I). Here's a little more info:

Also, remember that a HDMI cable is basically the same cable as a DVI_D cable except with a different connection.
