My father in law is moving, and aside from numerous pieces of artwork being unloaded are 4 speakers. No manufacturer's name, just the following info the back sticker:

Model - Criterion L8
21-05187 HWX
6 Speaker - 3 way

Other stuff

Weight is about 35 - 40 lbs each.
12 x 12 x 40 inch tower.
The speakers are made of 3/4 to 1 inch MDF.
On the front is a 10 inch woofer, a 5 or 6 inch mid, and two tweeters side by side.
One each side (left and Right) tweeters ( for a total of 4 tweeters).
Terminals are binding posts.
Age is probably about 20 years of more ( I think they are from the Quad era) Each is powered by what appears to be powered by a Harmon-Kardon mono amp of unknown model or power.

They still sound superb.

Are they keepers?

New Info:

I asked about the manufacturer because the "C" in Criterion did not have the globe in the middle as it would if it were "Criterion" brand. But now, after an ebay search, the model number appears to be similar to other "Criterion" brand speakers. So lets rephrase the question, who were they made for and are they any good?

I vaguely remember Criterion. (At first I though it was a Harman/Kardon brand but I was thinking of their Citation series gear). If my memory isn't totally false, they were well regarded in their day. And if you think they sound "superb" now, hey, then they're keepers! Enjoy your windfall.

Lafayette Radio Electronics marketed a Criterion brand ofspeakers. My first speakers (in '63 - 65 or thereabouts) were their Criterion 50's. 2 way ported speakers w/ 8" woofer and 3" paper tweeter and the Xover consisted of a npo 4.7 uf cap. Cost 29.95 each and the second one was one cent more.
