I need help watching the superbit version of The 5th Element using DTS. I can watch and hear the movie when I select the normal DD but when I choose DTS I get no sound. I've gone through the 5890 manual and haven't found anything. Does anyone have suggestions on where to look to solve the problem? Thanks in advance.

Are you choosing the DTS track from the DVD menu (usually under 'Audio' but sometimes inexplicably under 'Languages')?

If you choose the DTS track from the DVD menu and the Yamaha is set to Auto for the input to which the DVD player is connected, it should identify the signal as DTS and automatically choose the DTS decoder to play it. You MUST be using a digital connection (either optical or coax) from the DVD player to the receiver.

Make sure your DVD player is sending out a bitstream signal to the receiver.

Thanks for the replies. It turns out the coax wasn't in all the way, I popped it back in and viola. Again thanks.
