Hello folks, 1st time on the forum. Please be patient with me. I'm looking to upgrade on speakers soon. Currently have the Klipsch Ref. 3 system and I'm generally satisfied, but like most folks I'm ready for an upgrade. Been thinking of going with Def-Tech BP7000sc & c/l/r3000
Anyone with some words of advice. Thanks

I think you should upgrade only when you are thoroughly are dissatisfied with a component, or no longer is able to meet your needs?
A set of new speakers will satisfy for a while, but, in time, the itch will return?

You should compare the speakers in the same acoustic space at the same volume level and preferably under unbiased circumstances. Even though speakers will sound different, at time a whole lot or just barely, bias or other features than sound may steer you to the wrong set.:D

You're correct about the itch. My current listening enviroment is about to change (new home) and the new room will be larger. I guess with all things new the equipment must change too. I've read some good things about Def-Tech and the curiosity has been aroused.

Are you in the new room now or soon to be? Maybe you should wait until you are in the new room first. Then, you may want to consider acoustic treatment or EQ first before jumping on speakers.
Then, you should listen to the speakers first, preferably in your room?

I agree with Marty about waiting until you get to the new house. Who knows what kind of room acoustics you will have to deal with. Also I understand about having that itch. What I try to do is allow some time to pass and many times the itch will grow less and I save myself some money.

And then, you may still want to consider the room treatment and or EQ. You would be amazed what these can do to sound quality:D

I agree... speakers are a long term commitment. Save your money and run them into the ground. THen buy high end.

When you say "high end" are you talking B&W or KEF?

If you're talking the B&W 800 series or KEF Reference, then yes. The Def Techs you mention and your Klipsch Reference also fit into the "high end" category. Most of the more common manufacturers carry a "high end" product line. Of course there's always the "really high end" boutique gear.

I live in a rural area so it's hard to audition equipment, however, I was out of town and got to listen to the KEF 205's and WOW... Anyone with some insight.

If you like the KEF Reference series sound but find it a bit pricey, you may want to consider the KEF XQ series.

Honestly, I don't think going from the Klipschs to the Def Techs will really be much of an upgrade. A completely different sound, yes, but not really an upgrade IMO.

What subwoofer do you run with your Klipschs?

I know that Klipsch has some really high end speakers. I hope I didn't anger anyone. I'm running a SVS 20-39pc-plus.

Klipsch THX

If you are pretty satisified with your current Klipsch Ref speakers, you should check out their new THX series. They should be awesome for movies, but there might be better options if you do a lot of 2-channel music listening.
