Need help with rear speakers of theater.

I just moved into a new home, and unlike my last one, is much more open. This places me in a dilemma. I have no room for my old axiom rears. The right will place just fine. The left is another story, I have a stairwell where speaker placement would be ideal, and a bathroom doorway if I would move the speaker further back. Moving it forward is not an option either. Due to the lay out of the room, the TV only fits where I have it (don't want it over fireplace.) My question is: Are there small (mini) speakers that would work and sound good for rears that could hang from the ceiling? Or is there a non-amped sound bar that would work? Any and all ideas welcome. thanks below is a quick layout

I know someone who has small dipoles mounted on the ceiling and it sounds pretty decent. I also heard a setup in a big box store with in-ceiling speakers as the surrounds and it actually sounded a lot better than I would have expected.

for your 5.1 surrounds, at the "sides" and not the rear, I would also suggest you consider in-ceiling units with a pivoting tweeter or "angled speakers" to direct the sound towards the listening area and not just "down fire".

Could you mount one surround on a stand, move it into position while watching a movie, them move it out of the way when not in use ?
