Need help with random pop from speakers

Hi. I have a 5.1 system consisting of a Yamaha 1020avr, oppo 103, Elac f5, b6's as surround speakers, and the corresponding center channel and Elac 4oo sub.

I had upgraded the speakers from a Polk 5.1 system about 3 months ago.

Since I have gotten the elacs I get a random loud pop 1 to 4 times a day. It has also happened when the entire system was off. It comes from the left front speaker-channel.

I have switched out the front the speakers, bought banana plugs, disconnected and reattached all cables, unplugged all power cables, but still get the random pop.

The pop only happens when tv or dvr viewing. When playing cd's or blu Rays no pop.

Any help is much appreciated.

Speakers don't generate sounds on their own. They just reproduce what's fed them from the preceding components.

From your description, since you say it only happens on two sources, not all, I'd be looking for a problem with the TV or DVR. You might try switching them out.

Occasionally I get pops when changing channels while tv watching. It is more of a brief static noise.

Does the back of your receiver push up against a wall or back of a cabinet? If it does, you maybe bending a cable sideways. I would get popping noises when watching movies on my Apple TV. The HDMI cable was thick and when I pushed the receiver into the cabinet the cable pressed against the back. I went to low profile HDMI cables and a right angle power cord. All went away.

My cables are free from any compression. It only happens occasionally. I presume it is a static error generated by the cable box when changing stations. It sounds more like dead air static when listening to a tuner.

My funny noises come mostly from power supply and plug in issues. I had a usb power supply that literally made my speakers scream.
