Hello everyone.
I've had this 37" Dynex 720p TV for about 8 months or so now. I don't really know what's going on, but when the speakers have to make loud sounds or sounds that require bass it makes a loud "PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS" sound. I'm not sure if that's why that sound keeps happening but it's what I'm guessing it is. Anyway, I wanted to get a new bass/speaker system/whatever it is that I need to get to make that sound keep happening. I don't want to spend a fortune, I really only have ~$200 to spend on these speakers.
Any help on telling me what's going on or what I should buy? Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the puny speakers in your (and most flat panel) TV can'ttake the bass.

Two questions :

1) Does the TV have external speaker outputs on the back?

2) Does your TV have red/white RCA jacks on the back to allow connection to an external amplifier?

Answer these first and we'll take it from there. Oh, have your manual handy...

$200 is a pretty small budget so don't expect too much. If you find some deals online you may be able to find a receiver and and a set of bookshelf speakers. The good news is that even a budget receiver and basic set of bookshelf speakers will sound 10x better than your tv's built in speakers.

I think it would be useful to up the budget by $100 so that you can dedicate 200 to a set of bookshelves.

As a way to save money, you can pick up a good used receiver for less than $100.

There is no need to have a line out from your display. Use the receiver to deliver sound to the bookselves and video to the display.
