Hi,

So I would like to connect my Outlaw 7700 and Behringer EP-2500 to some sort of power conditioning and voltage regulation. I'm pretty sure I will need two units to power them. If needed I have no problem rewiring for 20A outlets. Currently I have a Monster Power 2600 MKII.

Other components that need to be connected are:
Outlaw 990
McIntosh MCD 7009
Rega P2
NAD PP-2
Microsoft Zune Dock

What would you all recommend I do for power?

Thanks!!!

How much voltage do you have, measured at the outlet?

Furman makes voltage regulators, they are around $500.

Something like that would be good for the amps.

For everything else, I'd use an APC UPS (battery backup). You'll get 120V out of them and you can't do better for power conditioning.

This is what I use:

There are smaller models (mine is overkill). The batteries are replacable, and the build quality is fantastic.

I should note that just a voltage regulator alone, with your Monster would be fine. I just thought I'd throw the UPS idea in there as an alternative for the sensitive equipment.

Hmm...
Well the 7700 will draw 1800W alone (15A on 120V), and the UPS that you have only seems to supply 600W.

Now I can use the Monster for the Behringer as it only draws about 9.6A, and then some other components. What do you think of the Panamax line?

What components would you recommend a line filter for?

...and what components would you recommend a voltage regulator for?

Thanks.

Nod. By sensitive equipment I mean stuff like Escient Fireballs, DVD players, etc. (more on this in the last paragraph of this post) A voltage regulator should do the trick, I just threw out the UPS because it's another option for your more sensitive stuff. I probably shouldn't have even mentioned it, as a voltage regulator would be just fine for your application. But, if you already had a UPS or whatever, it's an easy thing to throw in the mix for some gear (because it does the same thing as a voltage regulator, just in a different way)

Panamax works great. What model in specific were you looking at?

A line filter is put between your incoming AC and your gear. They come as connectors... a lot of times you'll see them on the end of a powercord running to a power conditioner. Are you experiencing EMI?

Voltage regulators can be used on anything. They are especially good in applications where you have high voltage or fluctuating power. The reason I mentioned "sensitive" components is because computer-like components (hard drives, DVRs, a lot of sources) are sensitive to high voltage. They, slow fry, for lack of a better description. Amps don't seem to care as much as the more "techie" components.

I was looking at either the 5100-PM or 5400-PM as I'm not sure if I need the voltage regulator. The reason I want to use a power conditioner is that once I hooked up my 2600 MK II the difference was very noticable.

So I'm thinking that I'll hook the Outlaw 990/770 to the panamax 5400-PM, and then depending on which speakers I decide on (which will determine the load), I might hook up the NAD PP-2, and the Rega P2, and if possible, the McIntosh 7009 as well. Then on the monster I will have my Behringer EP-2500, a Behringer Feedback Destroyer, and my 700W computer (only draws about 500W). I will have these both plugged into different PS Audio outlets, which will be on different 15A circuits. Our house is brand new, and is wired top of the line so the circuits will easily handle this load. (we have 4 circuit panels which control the house, and the one huge box [2x4 feet] as a master switch...)

Does the setup I listed above sound good?
