What kind of problems?
The more issues I see (with any brands), the more I think it's best to just get something like the Denon 3312 when it's on sale for $550. It's doesn't hurt as bad when things go bad or when it's time to upgrade.
I'm using two Denon 3310 for the Orion & Phil3.

The most noticeable thing I've seen is that I lose a ton of menu items w/o warning. Tried unplugging for 30 min and that didn't help. All that gets left is Source Select, Surround Mode, and Information. No Audyssey, no manual speaker set up, the list goes on. Just gone. Try plugging in the Audyssey mic, no response whatsoever. The other thing I notice with it is the Zone 2 and Zone 3 get renamed to something weird... one time it was
ZONe3? and another time it had a 3/4th's sign in the middle
And today, I was trying to watch blu-ray and prior to start up, it would flip between my front left and subwoofer channel levels (you know how you can adjust them on the fly right?) really fast.
Just weird stuff like that. I've done various microprocessor resets and it resolves it temporarily, but I think I'll try updating the firmware next to see if that helps. It sucks because it was working great for a while - well, after I got it back from the shop the first time - but now it's just buggy and works weird. Extra sucky part: the one year warranty just expired since it was a refurb.
So, I'm going to try a few more things before I take it to a shop. With the problems I've had at the beginning and now, I think I might just have gotten a lemon (I hope). It still seems to put out audio ok though (XT32, DynEq and all that stuff I use), so it's still useable to some degree. But yeah, if firmware doesn't help and it's expensive to repair, I'm going to have to look long and hard about a.) getting that lemon fixed, b.) buying a new 4311 for ~1200 (booooo
), or c.) going a new, cheaper direction for my receiver needs. I still think feature wise, it's one of the best models on the market, and I really like the Audyssey suite on there. Though, in retrospect, I think the SubEQ is going to waste since I went with one monster sub vs. two smaller subs. So, I might look at something like the Onkyo 818 instead, or maybe a lower level Yamaha - reassess my setup to see if I really need a $2100 MSRP receiver with $1500's worth of speakers... who knows.
