All i want and care about is sound quality. I have $1000 to spend. I already have ADS 910 speakers.
My room is 20'x50'. I am skeptical about all the "settings" on new stereo receivers and just want what the sound musicians make without any alterations. I don't want a vintage receiver"still would like to hook cpu and let my daughter listen to her crap music with ease so she doesnt have to tinker too much. Any suggestions and to "learn me" why it has the best sound. Thanks and NEVER turn down your stereo...just talk louder!

That's a big room and those dual woofer speakers can present a fairly complex load to an amp.

Are you liooking two-channel stereo, or hoping to migrate to a full-blown multi-channel HT, which might be a challange with those speakers.

Your best bet might be stereo separates.

All the settings on new receivers are there for a reason. Your room, furniture, floor, speakers, speaker placement, source, and more will affect the sound. Many of the settings are there so you can counter these affects and more closely approximate "the sound musicians make".

Agreed, the setting can be a bit daunting and complicated to learn. You will see true experts debating various settings in any audio forum because ears are different, preferences are different, and all the conditions above are different.

If your equipment has the settings, you can learn about them and experiment at your own pace and level of desire. But if your equipment doesn't have them, you are stuck w/ whatever "settings" the designers decided to use.

A lot of receivers with the settings have easy shortcuts on the remote, like a blue button for games, a red button for music, a green button for TV.

It's your call. Just be aware that what you don't think you want today, may be exactly what you want tomorrow.

Many believe that in "direct" mode, without DSP, one receiver sounds like another, and one amp sounds like another. Others claim to hear a difference. The first group claims the 2nd group hears what they have been pre-conditioned and expect to hear. The topic has been thoroughly debated recently, and many times before, and will continue to be debated ad infinitum.

I know my system sounds damn good with a Marantz receiver at the core. But if you think it's a possibility that you might add subwoofers in the future (and with such a big space to fill, I strongly suggest getting two), go for the Denon X4000.

Do your shopping at Accessories4less. They sell refurbs, but they still come with a manufacturer's warranty and work as well as new.
