Hey, as you can probably guess by the name, i don't know a lot about audio, but i have some idea of what i want to achieve.

My hope is that i can connect together all my devices into a home entertainment system that i don't have to constantly unplug audio jacks from one device to another to get the sound working.

So perhaps if i start with what i have and what ports they have.

One PC with a green 3.5mm audio jack, pink microphone audio input and blue "line level" audio input (whatever those are)
One PS3 Console.
One PS2 Console.
One Viewsonic VX2433wm

One hifi system amplifier with two speakers that attach at the back by sticking the wires straight in these red and black clamps with extra ports for Aux line in and line out (left and right).

A second set set of speakers with one 3.5mm audio jack.

A set of headphones with 3.5mm audio jack.

I have some adapters too one 6.5mm to 3.5mm audio, (on the headphones so they can input into 6.5mm or 3.5mm). A two way 3.5mm splitter.

Anyway now on to what i hope to make out of all this 3 input devices to 3 output such that any of the 3 inputs will be able to select any or all of the 3 audio outputs i have.

So for example i want to be able to on my PC switch between using headphones and all the speakers connected through the Amp but also do the same from my PS3 without having to unplug wires. So i need some suggestions for a solution to this and any way to get an adapter from the red / white / yellow on the PS2 to get some sound out of it! :D

Sounds pretty complex to me to figure out not knowing enough about audio but i'm sure you guys have systems like this already set up and will know what i need.

Any help will be appreciated!

actually not as hopeless as it would seem ;)

on the input side look here : http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?srchExt=CAT&srchCat=681

find the selector that best fit your situation

on the output side (speaker) look here : http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?srchExt=CAT&srchCat=723

for the headphones you could eighter set them on the inputside for switching or output side, but for output you would need an adapter that takes the amplified signal down to linelevel again.

Why not just get a cheap AVR with a headphone jack and A & B speaker selector?
