First of all this is my first post and I am not the most knowledgable on receivers. Sorry for any spelling or grammer errors

.
Here is my setup now: ( I had links but i couldnt post them because this is my first post)
Samsung 52" 1080p LCD HDTV LN52A550
Onkyo 7.1-Channel Home Theatre Package: HTS5100
PS3 for Blue-Ray and games
HD PVR for TV
I made the mistake of buying the HTS5100 before doing a lot of research. The price was very reasonable though. It was 525$ for the entire system. As I said before i use a PS3 for Blue-ray and gaming. The problem with this receiver is it only supports HMDI pass-through. That combined with the Optical out only having enough bandwith for 5.1(From what i have read). I am looking for a receiver that supports HMDI video and audio, as well as all the new audio formats. I know the PS3 can support 7.1 audio but only through the HDMI cable. I hope to be able to run my PS3 and my HD PVR through the receivers HMDI inputs then run 1 HMDI out to my TV. What is a good receiver? Will i be able to just swap out receivers? Are these speakers good enough? Should i try and sell it and buy a whole new system? Any information on some receivers or even tips on my setup would be much appreciated.
My budget is 1000$ MAX (for just a new receiver)
I would like to just replace the receiver.
Thanks
