Which one would you get, the HK for $350 or the Pioneer for $1000, which is better as a receiver i dont care about the hd decoder or THX decoders. i care about sound i get from the optical decoder. My favorite decoder is the dts es. By the way i have a 5.1 HK ts11 speaker set, and when im just listening to music i have 2 jbl balboas, and a jbls sub. so what would you get and why. so if you like the HK more or even the pioneer more sell it to me with facts.(the HK is sooooo much better looking)

Isn't HK coming out with a newer receiver with HDMI 1.3, TrueHD, DTS-MA?

Yeah, I'm partial to HK as well.

I've owned the HK247 x 3 months & sold to my brother. It is a great clean sounding receiver. And I also love the looks of it.

They're out already. I saw the 254 and 354 at BB a couple weeks back.

I wouldn't pair a $1,000 receiver with your speakers. The Yammie 663, Onkyo 606, Pioneer 1018, and HK 254 are all good picks. They will all sound 95% identical once properly calibrated and levels matched. Buy the one you can get the best price on and features you need. You could take it down a notch if you don't need HD audio to the Yammie 463, Onkyo 506, Pioneer 918, and HK 154. If you think HK looks sexy, go with it :)
