While I've always appreciated high and audiophile systems and know what they sound like I'm not to well versed in the tech stuff. I was wondering if someone could tell me if these spec's are a good match or will I run into any problems. This is a budget system I'm trying to put togeather.

This is what I want to put togeather.

NAD 7020

Acculine A3's

# Frequency Response: 45Hz-22kHz
# Sensitivity: 89dB
# Nominal Impedance: 4 Ohms
# Power Handling: 10-150W

The amplifier specifications that you have listed are in NO WAY possible from an amp that you want to use with those speakers. You need an amp that is 4ohm stable and has at least triple the power that those specifications do....Underpowering a speakers is MUCH more dangerous than have extra headroom.

In short that amp WILL NOT work and you will need to check out Emotiva or Rotel if you are on a tight budget to drive those speakers....

I dont think I will be able to afford the systems you recommend as of I'm disabled and on a very tight fixed income - I spose I will have to try and find a used newer NAD or Carver perhaps on ebay (where I bought this NAD from). Thank you for your time and reply sir.

id want a larger amp, however im pretty sure that once you hook them up it will be able to drive them. The lower impedence swings come in the upper frequency range and shouldnt tax the amp to hard.

Well, I live in a small 12x14 room (give or take) and have roomates so the volume dial will most likely never be turned up more then half way as to not disturb my roomates to much. (heck, even a quarter of the way up is loud enough for me in most cases - I'm not one to push my stereo to insane volumes - I just want what you guys have, just a really sweet sounding system, it dont need to be loud)

BTW Do you have carpet or hard surface floors?

You should do fine if you don't try to break the windows.

Just remember the second rule of audio: "If it starts to sound bad, turn it down NOW!"

But, by the time that happens, it'll be pretty loud to begin with.

FWIW, the first rule of audio is "Always power down all equipment when kerfutzing with wires and cables".

If you remember these two rules, your experiences with audio will be a happy one.

Thats good, and give them some room from the back and side walls--one other question/comment --are you going to use a sub? and once setup can you please post your listen comments

thanks

You mean what I think of them? Sure, I plan on ordering them next tuesday, and yes, I plan on playing with the distance from the wall and seperation.

Nope no sub.

And to the other guy with the rules, I know the pics hard to see but I dont think anything sound as bad as these...these are 8" on stands, I was told they are Yamaha, but there isnt anything on the speaker magnet saying the brand, in any case, they sound like horrible poop, some of my CD's are just mud - its like hooking up boombox speakers to a Carver...AAACCKKKK.

Jeff if you decied you need more power, and dont want a new avr yet, just pick up a used amp or look at pro amps, and use the nad as a pre..

How about just getting something like this?

Also featured:

6 audio inputs
3 video inputs
outputs for stereo tape deck
outputs for VCR recording
separate preamp out and main amp inputs
auto/manual FM tuning and 30 presets
A/B/A+B speaker switches
Remote capable with motorized volume control (lost the remote though)
Bass, Treble, and Balance controls
Headphone jack
125 WPC 4 ohms-80 WPC 8 ohms with less than 0.09% THD 20Hz-20kHz

I really dont want seperate amps and a bunch of extra equipment laying around.

The Behringer A500 amp is stable into 4 ohm loads with plenty of power. It can be had new for around $200.
