Hey guys the video upconversion is not a big issue for me so based off the other features and power ratings which one would you go with. I can get the AVR635 for $640 and the AVR7300 for $1250 brand new.

Is there anything the AVR635 has that the 7300 does not?

Would you spend exactly double for the 7300 or put it towards a two channel amp?

Any feedback would be great.

Thanks guys.

That was sort of the dilemma I was in. I wanted the HK7300, but also was looking at the Denon 5803, the 3805, and the B&K 507. The AVR635 compares closer to the 3805 IMO. I was planning on spending around $2000 and thought the HK7300 was the way to go. The Denon had just come out and was retailing for $1200 plus tax and no one was dealing. About a month later, Ubid.com had them (B stock) for just over $700 so I jumped on it. I don't think it compares to the HK7300, but if I was to buy now and could get one off Harmans ebay site for $900, that's the route I'd go. It falls right in between your budget, and for 2/3's more the price of the 635, you'll never say "I should have got the better unit." It's twice the receiver the 635 is IMO. Just make sure you have enough room for it. One of the guys on another thread said his cousin bought a 635 for $475 off Harman's ebay store - full warranty. Lots of options here if the AVR7300 is too big.

Man you guys are so lucky to have such great prices. $1250 for a brand new 7300?! If you lived in Canada you would be paying 2600 USD :p . I know I always complain about the difference in prices, but that's all we do up here  . I could by the 7300 from the U.S., but there would be no warranty, plus taxes and duties :D Zack, I'm not crazy about upconversion, but the 7300 is a big boy. Go for the 7300 and make me envious ;) . Also what speakers do you have

Nice, you would be happy with either the 635 or 7300. The 7300 is more powerful, has upconversion, but no RoomEQ. If the price is too much you may consider Yamaha or Denon, even Marantz.

Plenty - probably overkill.
